Sew a Victoria Blazer
Victoria Blazer Course - Thursday evenings for 6 weeks (Sep to Oct)
Time: 7.45pm to 9.45pm
Dates 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th September 13th and 20th October
What is it? The Victoria Blazer is a loose-fitting jacket designed by pattern company By Hand London (if you google it loads of variations will come up). I made one recently and it seemed to suit everybody in class who tried it on. It is great for dressing up or down and one of those makes you can revisit many times (I am on my 2nd already).
This course will take you through each stage of construction. You will learn about choosing the right fabric, applying interfacing and handling it properly. The jacket has darts, a collar, lapels and cuffs attached with French seams, so loads of handy technique to master. We will also set in sleeves.
We have timed this before Christmas so you can impress all your friends and family at parties.
Ability level? I would recommend that you have done some basic sewing before and are familiar with a dressmaking pattern. Otherwise be brave and give it a go - I have plenty of seam rippers if a few things go wrong along the way and this pattern has no zips, buttonholes or tricky fastenings to worry about.
Cost £120 including traced pattern but excluding fabric
